We’ve all heard the expression “Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.” No statement could
be more truer.
After all beauty is quite meaninglessly in the eye. This means that could bet that beauty is experienced as a visual impression that is left in the “mind’s eye” of a beholder.
A fact, substantiated by extensive research, is this: color, more than anything else, creates the very first, and most powerful visual impression.” With this thought in mind, you can understand why a personal color analysis is so very important to you. It involves your personal color.
An understanding of color itself explains why color has such power.
Color is a powerful energy force that is meant to affect us physically, psychologically, and emotionally; and this it does.
Its energy wakes us up in the morning, and puts us to sleep at night. It propels us to action, and calms us to rest. It stimulates, soothes, excites, motivates, and energizes. But color can also aggravate, repulse, nauseate, and repel.
No one is more aware of this phenomenon than marketers and merchandisers. We are taught that we should not judge a book by its cover, but the fact is that we do. It is the cover that first attracts us to the book. It is appearance that sells, and it is color that creates the first visual impact.
When we speak of color harmony we are evaluating the joint effect of two or more colors. There are either attractive or unattractive color arrangements. There is either harmony or discord.
A personal color analysis determines the color tone of your skin, your body’s largest organ. The purpose of a color analysis is to then have all of the other colors of your adornment–your clothing, hair color, accessories, shoes, etc. -in harmony with you and your personal color tone. This is truly the only way to ensure a beautiful, pleasing first impression.
Without this harmony in your choice of color combinations, there will be a discord; the sensation or feeling in the mind of the beholder, albeit unconscious, that something is amiss.
To what avail, for example, is it to wear a strikingly beautiful outfit if it is not in harmony with the wearer? Both the beauty of the outfit and the wearer are instantly lost, leaving the viewer with the question “what’s wrong with this picture?” The same holds true with the wrong hair color, the wrong colored nails, shoes, accessories, and so on. As every artist knows, beauty presents itself as one unified whole.
If you want to present your most beautiful image, personal color analysis must be the first step that you take to create a foundation of flattering color. Remember, it is color that creates the beholder’s first visual impression.
A personal color analysis is key to getting the most out of that vital first sensation you leave with someone.
